RE: Questions about wintering in Yuma, AZ

I can't answer all the question however the tempeture is not that bad in the winter. You didnot say when you would get there but I was there in Dec. - Feb. and it was really nice. in fact we wore a small jacket most of the time.

When we went to Alaska they check out unit out like we robbed a bank. We were there at least 2 hours. They also took our apples and eat them while checking. coming back no trouble at all.

RE: m benz 7.2 ltr 330 hp v cummins ISC360

We have an 06 MB engine with approx 19,000 miles. It takes the hills out west like a sports car. For service we go to a Frieghtliner dealer with no problem at all. We haven't had a problem. I think if the OP is on a friehgtliner I would think the warrenty would be taken care by them. I don't take my couch back to the dealer if I have a problem with the chassie (anything below the floor)

We also have a Tourmaster and this is how we winterize it. Pack it and drive to Florida.

oil change

I know I saw this topic on here but I cannot find it:o. How much does it cost to have a shop change the oil in a diesel pusher (approx. 29 qts). I just changed mine this week-end and made a mess. between putting the oil back into the bottles to taking them back to the recycle center and the plastic I put on the ground that ended up "black", it was a lot of work to save some money. Is it worth doing it yourself? (oil=$100. filter=$21.)

RE: where can we go?

Thanks for the info. I am the one that picks out the parks and sites and DH just goes where I say. So I am a bit shy about SP since we had the "Rhode Island experience". However I have gotten such great feed back on Florida SP on this forum. I'll keep you posted.

where can we go?

I asked this question "kinda" before but I will put a twist to it. We are going to southern Al. or northern Florida. We are looking to spend time in state parks near the Gulf. We have a 42 ft. motorhome and a toad (chevy HHR). Can we fit into the sites that say a 42 ft. would fit. We went to Burlingame State Park in Rhode Island and the sites are large however there are low hanging branches and no real clean spot to park on our coach, lots of trees. Someone on this site had some good pics at "Long key SP", "St. George Iland". "Ocala Nat'l forest", 'Fort Clinch SP", and Fort DeSoto county park. How do you guys stack up for gettin a big, high motorhome into these parks or any other.
Thank You,
Adrian and Johnnie

RE: Moving MH with slides out???

I am not advocating this in any shape or form, just an observation. We were at Tom Johnson's RV dealership in North Carolina and they were moving their entire inventory from one side of the lot to the other side (a large lot)with every unit with its slides out. They had top end units to entry level all moving. I know if they make a mess of a unit the new owner will find it out and the warrentee will fix it or else its a wash.

Jacks

Dose everyone use your Jacks all the time? My large slide will not come out if my jacks are down. I have to put the slide out then put the jacks down. We don't use the jacks all the time but DW said she thought it puts a lot of stress on the air bags if we don't use the jacks. What do you think?

RE: Walmart

some Walmarts have installed a gate that allows cars to pass but if you are over 11 feet or so high you cannot go in. that is how some handle it. as for what trucks are parked there, I have seen times there are 10 or 15 in one lot. I don't think they are all Walmart trucks. I don't think very many trucks deliver to Walmart if they are not Walmart trucks. they may deliver to the main terminal but not to each store for the most part.

RE: Parking Lot Follies

we had a 42 ft. motorhome with a dolly and a Mazda on it. Lost in Wiston-Salem at rush hour on a Friday on a hot July day. Turn into a parking lot that looked good but was not. Had to take the car off the dolly and the dolly off the motorhome, turn the coach around and put the dolly back on the coach and the car back on the dolly. what a mess.
